What Is Invisalign?
/
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment involving a series of removable clear aligners. These aligners can correct minor to moderate misalignment. Both dentists and orthodontists can provide this effective orthodontic option, giving you a more convenient and discreet alternative to traditional braces.
Straightening Your Smile with Invisalign
Invisalign has revolutionized the field of orthodontics. Instead of using traditional metal braces to correct misalignment, Invisalign uses clear removable aligners that are customized to your bite. Patients at Pioneer Hills Dental in Aurora are thrilled with their Invisalign results and love how easy and convenient treatment is. If you’re ready to stop smiling with your mouth closed and feeling insecure about your crooked teeth, Invisalign may be the treatment you’re looking for. Dr. Terrance Wolbaum can determine if this solution is right for you during a consultation at our Aurora office.

"Dr. Wolbaum takes the time to listen to you."
The staff is friendly and helpful. Welcoming. Dr Wolbaum takes the time to listen to you and he always asks how you are doing. He doesn’t tell you something is wrong when there’s not, cavities for example. Honest. It is clean and well maintained. I have sent family and friends here.
View on GoogleI have been a patient at Pioneer Hills Dental for 4+ years and Dr. Wolbaum has been excellent. Their hygienist Hannah left, and knowing I had to adjust to her replacement (Kelly) made me nervous. I am so happy to write about the great care and experience I had with Kelly. One of the best experiences having my teeth cleaned.

Mild to Moderate Misalignment
Invisalign treatment is best for patients with mild to moderate cases of misalignment. For more severe cases, braces may be recommended. We'll be happy to connect you with a trusted local orthodontist who offers them.
Good Oral Health
Patients must be in good oral health before beginning treatment. Any cavities or infections must be addressed and treated before starting the Invisalign process. We can help clear these issues up with gentle treatment at our office.
Commitment
Invisalign patients must be committed to wearing their aligners for 20 to 22 hours every day. This ensures the best results and reduces the likelihood of needing to prolong treatment. If you think you may struggle with this treatment schedule, traditional braces or clear braces could be great alternative choices.
No Teeth Grinding
Bruxism can wear down aligners and negatively affect treatment, as Invisalign aligners are meant to be worn both during the daytime and while sleeping. Patients who grind their teeth may be better suited for braces.

View On GoogleHave a Complex Case? Invisalign Attachments Can Help.
Invisalign aligners are scalloped at the gum line to blend seamlessly with your smile. This natural appearance is a great benefit, but it can lessen the force that's applied to the teeth. Invisalign works around this drawback by offering attachments.
Invisalign attachments are small tooth-colored bumps that are bonded to the teeth. They give the aligners additional "grip" on the teeth to keep treatment running as planned. We offer these attachments at our Aurora office for patients with moderate to complex cases of misalignment that could use an extra boost.
What to Expect During Invisalign Treatment
Aurora, CO, patients trust Dr. Wolbaum to refine their smiles with Invisalign. He provides a convenient treatment plan centered around their schedule and needs, offering extended hours for busy patients.
Invisalign FAQ
How Frequent Are Check-Ups?
How often you come back to our office for our dentist to monitor your progress will depend on your unique Invisalign case. Generally, follow-up appointments happen every two to six weeks. These follow-up appointments allow Dr. Wolbaum to ensure your results are developing as planned and make adjustments to the course of your treatment, if needed. We work with you along the way to ensure your desired results are met by the end of your treatment.
How Can I Maintain My Results?
After you have achieved your dream smile, it is important to maintain it. Patients wear their last set of Invisalign aligners or retainers to bed every night. This keeps your teeth in position and prevents any shifting from occurring.
Meanwhile, it’s essential to keep up with routine dental visits, brush and floss regularly, and maintain good oral hygiene.
Consider Teeth Whitening After Invisalign Treatment
Our office offers professional teeth whitening procedures for our patients. To compliment your new, straight smile, consider whitening your teeth to address any stains or discoloration distracting from their beauty.

Does Insurance Cover Invisalign?
Some dental insurance plans will partially cover Invisalign, but not all. Our office in Aurora accepts most dental insurance plans, and we can help you verify your coverage. If you are uninsured or your plan does not cover Invisalign, know that we partner with CareCredit®, a third-party lender that offers low-interest and interest-free financing repayable in monthly installments. If you have any questions about the process, our staff is happy to assist you.
Does Invisalign Hurt?
Traditional braces are known for causing pain and discomfort, especially after adjustments. Invisalign aligners are much more comfortable, and unlike braces, you can take them out for up to four hours a day.
You may experience some minor discomfort as you adjust to each new set of aligners. However, you can alleviate that discomfort with an over-the-counter pain relief option, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
After you adjust to wearing your latest set of Invisalign aligners, you will probably forget you are wearing them most of the time. In fact, you will be able to sleep comfortably in them as they straighten your teeth overnight.
