Your first appointment is a full look at your mouth and a conversation about what you want from your teeth. Plan on about an hour.
What happens at the first visit

What brought you in, what has bothered you about past dental visits, and anything in your health history we should know about. - Digital X-rays and photos
A full set of X-rays if you do not have recent ones from another office, plus photos of each tooth so you can see what we see. - A thorough exam
Dr. Wolbaum checks every tooth, your gums, your bite and your jaw joints, and screens for oral cancer. - A cleaning, in most cases
If your gums are healthy enough we clean the same day. If there is a lot of tartar below the gums we schedule a deeper cleaning instead. - A plan you can read
Anything that needs attention is written down with the cost and your insurance estimate, in order of what matters most. Nothing is started that day unless you ask.
Before you arrive
Please bring:
- A photo ID and your dental insurance card, if you have one
- A list of medications you take
- The name of your previous dentist, so we can request your records and X-rays
New-patient forms can be completed at the front desk in about ten minutes. If you would rather do them at home, call us at (303) 766-8811 and we will email them to you.
Insurance and payment
We accept most PPO dental plans and file claims for you. Before any treatment you get a written estimate of what your plan should cover and what you will owe. Because insurance companies do not guarantee payment in advance, the estimate is our best reading of your plan, and we will tell you if a claim comes back differently.

Our office
We are in the Pioneer Hills shopping center on South Parker Road just south of Chambers Road, between Tan on the Boulevard and Cobalt Comics, with free parking at the door. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Directions and contact details.
Common questions
How soon can I get in?
New-patient exams are usually available within a week or two. If you are in pain, call and we will see you the same day whenever we can.
Do you see children?
Yes, from their first birthday. Families can book back-to-back appointments.
I have not been to a dentist in years. Will you judge me?
No. Showing up is the hard part and you have done it. We will take it one step at a time.
Can I get a second opinion?
Yes. Bring the other office's treatment plan and X-rays and we will give you our honest read.
